Personal Reflection, Yuzhe

1. I choose this project because of my fascination with cells and tissues. As I am not the best at this subject, this would allow me to have an opportunity to learn more about this subject.

2. My role in this project is to help out with the blog, the report and also the presentation.

3. We encounter challenges like not having enough manpower and insufficient time to complete the task but we try our best to overcome the challenges.

4. Through this project, I learn that we can overcome any problems or challenges as long as we tried and even if we did not overcome those problems, we can know that we did try.

5. I have learned a lot more about cells, tissues and also bacteria from this program. I also learned to work better in a group because we have to overcome a lot of problems.

6. My aspiration for my future is to help the world to have less sickness.

Our Gains

We have taken a lot out of this experience like having the opportunity to learn more about a topic that interests us, the chance to learn how the students from NTU study, the chances we get to interact with some of the student leaders from the school. The project also deepens our perspective on how a person could have cancer and would just need to have their cells checked to tell them if they really have cancer. The new things that I have learnt through this project could be used in the future, like the different types of microscopes and also the different techniques to stain a cell.

Personal Reflection, Zheng Jie

My Personal Reflection~ Zheng Jie

1.I chose this project because I was fascinated about the different ways to stain and find out what is inside a cell through different processes.

2.My role in this pair is the leader and I organize all the work.

3.Challenges we encounter when working is the insufficient manpower for work due to us being a pair, but we equally distribute work and just work a little harder to overcome it.

4.Through this project, I discover the complexity in a sing simple experiment.

5.As an individual, I have benefited from this program as I have never stopped asking myself why about these topics mentioned as the professors love to allow us to look into it after giving the basics, which heightens my curiosity.

6.My aspirations are to learn more into this and make an innovative product that benefits all.

Indv Report Yu Zhe

1. Importance of water-Dirty and Clean
This plenary session talks about how water is precious and why we should not take it for granted. It also talks about how some countries like Singapore might have clean water to drink, but how other countries might not have clean water to drink.

2.Revolution of Microelectronics Technology
This plenary session teaches me about how Micro-Tech is used and also teach me about how the 9o's could help to make the future a place where we can communicate to each other using brain waves.

3.Biomedical Engineering & Technology
This plenary session teachers me about how nanotechnology would help us in war, as shown with the army suit which the pixels used are the same as the eye, thus causing the eye to not be able to focus on the suit and would cause the enemy to not know what they are seeing.

4.IT for Animation
This plenary session is probably the most relaxing plenary session of all of them, as we were shown different animations and also how the person makes the animation, which helps us understand IT for animation.

5.Disappearing Glaciers, Rising Sea Levels and Why Glaciers are Important?
This plenary session leaves me with the deepest impression as rising sea levels is a problem Earth faces that a lot of us know about it. This is also leaves me with the deepest impression as it concerns our future and how we could prevent this from happening.

My Favourite Plenary Session
The plenary session that leaves the deepest impression on me is the fifth plenary session that talks about disappearing glaciers, rising sea levels and why gravity is more important then we think it is. What I like about this plenary session is that it tells us about a problem that earth is facing and how does the disappearing glaciers would cause the sea levels to rise and fall and how gravity would affect that.

Indv Report Zheng Jie

The first day of our camp led us to amazing talks or plenary session as they call it to take a glimpse of the many courses NTU offers for Undergraduates and Graduates both! From the micro-view of nano-technology, to the macro view of the world's ever-changing climate review ed by geodesist. Although all were an amazing experience with high level of depth, the continuos sessions for a few of the talks were driving me a little sleepy. Despite that, I still understand and grasped a great number of concepts and explanations.

My learning points from each session…

1.Importance of water-Dirty and Clean
The professor here was very enthusiastic about his work and loves to make his lessons enjoyable and memorable, I have learned from his talk the new knowledge of actually linking the clean water usage to energy made or consumed, for higher orders of thinking, and a reflection for us to think that as Singapore Citizens, we have clean water, but do others?
2.Revolution of Microelectronics Technology
This professor had showed us the amazing uses of Micro Tech, and how the world's never-ending revolution of products, like the 9 O's mentioned for use in the future exploration of innovation.
3.Biomedical Engineering & Technology
I found the advancements of technologies now intriguing and how almost all problems can be solved with these machines built, and what limitless advancements can be built in the future!
4.IT for Animation
I thought this was the most relaxing of all plenary sessions as there were many short film clips that made understanding and comprehending the use of IT in Animation easier.
5.Disappearing Glaciers…
This was the most interesting session I had ever experienced, maybe because the theme was tied somewhat to my favorite subject- Integrated Humanities, and I was intrigued to learn more of the gravitational pull that makes seas uneven, I wish I would be able to go to experience more of this!

My favorite one would be the last one related to disappearing glaciers etc. I found it very interesting as I believe that even though many decades have passed, there still is much more we do not know about the earth, our planet and is would be interesting to solve those mysteries.
